The authors of the encyclopedia project were Ditero and d'Alembert. and The first ever encyclopedia project in the history of the world, took over 20 years to complete. It was written in French so that they French laymen has access to this knowledge. This was a product of the French enlightenment, with the authors sharing similar visions or perhaps inspired by the writings of Voltaire. The encyclopedia was dedicated to Bacon, Locke, and Newton, which were the same three people Voltaire listed in his letters as the greatest men in history.
