Micro-philosophy is a concise personal philosophy of life. As opposed to a macro-philosophy, which is usually a fully developed, wide ranging system or theory. ## Characteristics A micro-philosophy is concise, coherent, personal, and livable. 1. Concise because it has to be simple enough to be applicable in real life, as all frameworks have to be. 2. Coherent meaning makes sense and not contradicting. 3. Personal means lived — not remaining theoretical and generic, but appropriated and interpreted into one’s own. 4. The three preceding characteristics feeds into this last one: livable. A micro-philosophy is meant to be lived out. ## Three pillars World, values, and ethics make up the three necessary pillars of a livable micro-philosophy. 1. [World]: These are beliefs about what the the world is like and our relationship to it, usually spanning metaphysics and epistemology. 2. Values: Beliefs about what matters more or less. 3. Ethics: Beliefs about how one ought to act (with respect to values)
