Occupation-wise, a blogger is not a writer. In other words, earning money from a blog is very different from earning money from writing online. A blogger usually earns money from ad revenue, or affiliate revenue from the sale of a product or service. In either case, the blogger is either in the advertising business, or the product and services business. A writer on the other hand, should be in the writing business, meaning they earn money off their writing. They build a career by building an audience.
