This is the 3rd lecture of [[PA Big Ideas in Psychology]] by [[Roy Baumeister]] on [[About]]
This lecture is all about the human person as a cultural animal. This is one step further from calling humans social animals. Cultural animal as a term picks out that which makes humans different from other social animals.
Core argument: The human mind is made by nature for culture.
The purpose of the culture is to enable people to live together and satisfy their needs. This was Marvin Harris's theory called Cultural Materialism.
