As Paul told the Philippians, when we refuse to be impressed, alarmed or concerned by these thoughts, it is a sign of destruction for our opponents and of victory for us (see Philippians 1:28). We have power over them! Second, these battles come in waves, and they will not last forever. And third, we probably did nothing wrong to cause the battles. As a matter of fact, we are usually in a battle because we are doing something right. True faith can evaluate the circumstances without growing hopeless because it sees the world through God’s eyes. But when we re-member the Lord and re-count His works, we begin to re-form our vision of His greatness in our hearts. As we meditate on His greatness, confidence begins to sprout in the soil of our faith, and soon fear’s fantasy is unmasked, flogged and sent fleeing. We often quote verses like this, but we forget that there is no victory without a battle, no testimony without a test and no miracle without an impossible circumstance. God leads us in triumph by leading us into battles, tests and impossibilities!
